The Cardiff University Research Institute logos. A series of new logos have been developed to brand the Cardiff University Research Institutes. These will give the Research Institutes individual identities whilst maintaining a clear association with Cardiff University. The logos comprise the Cardiff University parent brand logo, an individual coloured icon representing the relevant Institute’s area of expertise and finally the specific Institute name. These guidelines cover the logos use as a main identity.

Text block use. This configuration runs the title text underneath the two logo blocks and is most suitable for uses where space is restricted, for example on promotional items such as T-shirts. Here where the Cardiff University logo width is 20mm the text size should be 14pt. Even though the text length varies the font size should be consistent.

Colours. Key colours have been assigned to the individual logos which work together with the existing Cardiff University red (Pantone 193). 1. Font. The font used for the title text is Franklin Gothic Book. This is one of Cardiff University’s current corporate fonts used in all other material. No other weight of Franklin may be used.
